The world has changed for the better for the past decades but we are still failing young people at home, in schools and in the community with regards to comprehensive sexuality education. Their sexual rights are not yet fulfilled.
In this episode Carine Weiss talks to Dr. Venkatraman Chandra-Mouli who is passionate about applying the best evidence we have to improve adolescents' lives. Appling evidence to design SRHR policies and programs is essential if we want better health outcomes for adolescents and young people.

Storytelling is a powerful tool for changing harmful behaviour. Currently, over 30% of all new HIV infections globally are estimated to be among young people aged from 15 to 25. In this episode, Carine talks to Georgia Arnold, Executive Director of the MTV Staying Alive Foundation. Georgia produces the multi-award winning MTV Africa Shuga campaign, which combines sexual and reproductive health messaging with fictional stories that young people can relate to. Through its storylines and characters, the campaign delivers sexual and reproductive health information and is subtly shifting the beliefs and feelings that drive behaviour.

It’s all about pleasure – putting the sexy back into safer sex

Most dialogue around HIV/AIDS omits any discussions about sexual pleasure. Public health messages instead focus on controlling or suppressing sexual interactions and disseminate fear-based messages to promote safer sex in order to reduce the number of new infections. This is despite strong evidence that fear of disease is not a strong motivation to persuade people to practice safer sex. In this episode, Carine talks with public health specialist Anne Philpott about her passion for including pleasure in sex education as a motivation to increase safer sex practices.
